Personal Injury* Case Study – A Minor

General Practice Case Studies

James McSweeney Solicitors recently secured settlement in the sum of over €82,000.00 for a client who sustained a facial scar as a result of a road traffic accident.

The accident occurred some fifteen years ago when our client was a young child.  Our client sustained a laceration to the forehead which resulted in a jagged 4 inch scar.

As the two year statute of limitations for a minor does not run until they have reached the age of eighteen, our client still had the opportunity to pursue a personal injury action.

A medical report was obtained following a thorough examination in relation to our client’s injuries and an application was submitted to the Injuries Board.  The Injuries Board thereafter arranged for a further medical examination to take place. Some 10 months after the application was submitted, the Injuries Board valued our clients injures in excess of €82,000.00.  We were happy with this valuation as were the insurers and the matter came to a conclusion.  Our client was delighted with the outcome.
