James McSweeney Solicitors settled a case recently against a well-known home store brand. Our client purchased some folding canvas style stools from the store and when he went to sit on one, it collapsed beneath him. An engineering inspection deemed that the injuries to the claimant were as a direct result of the structural failure of the stool and therefore the stool was not fit for purpose. The court ordered that our client be awarded €36,680.00 plus costs.
